Renault Alpine

These here rides are some downright mean street machines, been tearin up pavement since way back in 1956 and would you look at that they hail all the way from France. Now most folks figure the French are real good at makin cars look fancy, but they also reckon em to be a little soft in the britches, kinda plain, not much grunt under the hood and light on the extras.

Truth be told French cars got a reputation for bein a bit shy on horsepower, but stomp that pedal and they will still holler loud enough to let you know they are alive and kickin.

But then along came the Renault Alpine and lord have mercy they took a little bitty V6 and turned it into an absolute wildcat. Howd they pull that off Well sir it is all about keepin things light. That body is so featherweight it feels like it oughta float off in a good Texas crosswind. Less weight means that small motor can run like a scalded dog.

It is a cryin shame that up here in Norway you mostly just see the original 1970s A110, cause them newer Alpines are slicker than fresh oil on hot asphalt. The modern ones you can tweak, tune and hot rod just about any way your heart desires. Now the A110 50 is a different critter altogether, that thing rolls out the factory gates already wound up tighter than a bull rider at eight seconds.

And Alpine did not stop there neither. They have turned out a whole stable of fine machinery over the years like the A110 from 2017 to 2022, the A610 Turbo from 1991 to 1995, the GTA and A610 from 1984 to 1991, and way back yonder the A106 from 1955 to 1961.

Not too shabby for a bunch of French fellas, if you ask me.
