Toyota Tacoma X-Runner? Now there’s a truck with some flair! They sold ‘em in the U.S. from 2005 to 2013, in Canada from 2005 to 2014, and even out on Hawaii till 2015. Came in all kinds of cool colors—different shades of blue and red, plus two kinds of black. They only made about 3,000 of these bad boys every year, so they’re a rare find.
Now, the Toyota FJ Cruiser? That one wasn’t even supposed to hit production! But after folks went wild for it at the auto show, Toyota decided to give the people what they wanted. It was made mostly for the U.S. market, though I remember seein’ a few of ‘em back home in Bærum. Some small import business must’ve brought a few over, ‘cause there wasn’t a proper dealer for ‘em.
By 2014, Toyota started talkin’ about axin’ the FJ Cruiser, but it’s still rollin’ in the Middle East. Those newer versions are upgraded from the originals and mighty hard to come by.
Now, if you really wanna have some fun, you can trick out both the Tacoma X-Runner and the FJ Cruiser into somethin’ downright badass. Picture the Tacoma tearin’ up the track at a Gatebil race while the FJ Cruiser’s out on the off-road course crushin’ junked-up cars or ridin’ on two wheels like they do over in the Middle East. Talk about a showstopper!
