Volvo 240 Concept and Ford Sierra RS Cosworth Concept from 2021 + various other things!





I've written quite a bit about all sorts of prototypes, and I reckon most of y’all who've been following my posts have probably been hopin' for a new Volvo 240, or maybe you’ve been feelin' pretty darn sad that Volvo didn’t keep makin' the 240 in the good ol' original classic retro design, like the Land Rover Defender, Volkswagen Beetle, Citroen 2CV, Lada Niva, Volkswagen Transporter, and a whole mess of others. But anyhow, take a look at the 2021 Volvo 240 Concept here. Now, let’s all cross our fingers and really, really hope this one goes into production. 'Cause if it doesn’t, well, that’d be a total disaster, at least that’s how I feel about it.





Ford Sierra RS Cosworth 1986-1987. These cars used to have a bit of a reputation for poor quality, at least the original versions of the Ford Sierra. But those RS500 Cosworth versions? They’ve always been some badass winged machines, like a little mini supercar for the streets, a true-blue rally car, or just a prized gem for car thieves and the Tveitagjengen crew. The Ford Sierra's also been kind of a symbol in the Norwegian street racing scene, right there alongside the Volvo 240.

Last year, 2021, they revealed a prototype for a new Ford Sierra RS Cosworth. I sure as heck hope, hope, hope this one goes into production just like the Volvo 240 did!"


Ford Escort (1967-1998). This car was owned by a guy I knew 'bout 10 years ago who worked for the post office. He had a black XR3i Cabriolet, a 1985 model. Dang, that was a slick car, really. Shame it had such poor quality, 'cause even though the mailman always took real good care of it and kept it lookin' sharp most of the time, it still fell apart on him.


Ford Escort RS Cosworth 1992-1996, a near-identical model, just the boring original version from '98. My brother-in-law used to borrow it from his mom back in the days when he was gettin' to know my sister. It actually belonged to his granddad, but his mom took care of it for him since he was livin' in a nursing home.

The badass RS Cosworth version of this got a prototype in 2021, though it was called the Ford Escort ST.




Ford Escort (1967-1998) .Denne bilen kjørte en jeg kjente for ca 10 år siden som jobbet i posten. En svart XR3i Cabriolet utgave av typen 1985 modell. Dritfet bil i grunnen. Synd den hadde så dårlig kvalitet at til tross for at postmannen alltid pleide pent med den og holdt den stort sett strøken, så datt den allikevel i fra hverandre.


Ford Escort GT USA modellen. Denne pleide jeg å lese om i en bilbok familien hadde på hytta vår på vestlandet.



Ford Escort RS Cosworth 1992-1996, en nesten identisk modell, bare den kjedelige originalversjonen i fra 1998, pleide svogeren min å låne av muttern sin i de dager han ble kjent med søsteren min. Den tilhørte riktignok bestefaren hans, men modern hans tok hånd om den for ham siden han bodde på gamlehjem. 


Den heftige RS Cosworth-utgaven av denne ble det også laget en prototype av i 2021, da riktignok med navnet Ford Escort ST.

Fiat Strada Renault Express/Renault Kangoo Volkswagen Caddy

Fiat Strada. This here rig comes in two flavors: the older models are tiny lil' pickups — real small, but scrappy. The newer ones, up to about five years old, are more like big ol' Isuzu Troopers or Toyota Hilux trucks — real workhorses, built tough for the long haul. You can trick these babies out real nice, slap on some chrome, lift the suspension, add a light bar — make ’em look mean and mighty fine. And get this: 'bout ten years back, Fiat went and bought out the whole dang Chrysler group. Yup, the whole enchilada. These days, a lotta their rides look a whole lot like Chryslers and Dodges. That goes for Lancia and Alfa Romeo too — all of ’em got a bit of that American muscle flair now. Renault Kangoo. This baby rolled onto the scene back in '99 — 'round the same time my old man got a real hankerin’ to buy one. Lada 1500 concept and Lada 1500 3G and 4G street cars

Below, you’ll find a picture of the Lada 1500 concept along with a sporty version of the Lada 1500 above. Unfortunately, the concept car never made it into production. The Lada 1500 3G and 4G are more akin to classic cars than true modern street cars, as they are built on a Fiat model from the 1960s. Lada launched its last versions of these models in 1979 and 1982. By that time, Lada had already produced two versions of the Fiat 1500, based on models from the 1950s and 60s, earlier in the 1970s. There’s a saying that Russians and people from former Soviet states often use: 'A Lada, it has a Porsche engine!' Supposedly, Porsche tried to modify the Lada 1500 by collaborating with Lada back in 1976 on the 2103 model .
