IL Tempo Gigante

Well, now, ain't Norway exactly known for its flashy wheels, especially not the extra-cool ones. I mean, who's gonna be hootin' and hollerin' about Pivco City Bees or Think City rides? And don't even get me started on the Buddy Electric, formerly known as Kewet Buddy, which used to be Danish before it went Norwegian. Folks mostly just think they're eco-friendly, not exactly cool.

But once upon a time, there was the Troll car, ahead of its game with a lightweight fiberglass body, sportin' a decent enough design for its time. That was back in the '50s, nearly 70 years ago. And speaking of the '70s, that's when Ivo Caprino got serious about bringing Kjell Aukrust's Flåklypa car to life.

IL Tempo Gigante started as Aukrust's sketches but hit the big screen in the '70s in a flick called Flåklypa Grand Prix. Yep, IL Tempo Gigante was in the mix, racin' against Rudolf Blodstrupmoen's ride. It became a national hero, thanks to Reodor Felgen and some cash from Sheikh Ben Reddik Fyfasan.

Ever since, a "Reodor Felgen solution" has been code for a clever fix, just like "Petter Smart solution," both harking back to Aukrust's Flåklypa tales and Donald Duck's adventures from way back when.

IL Tempo Gigante even made it into video games around the 2000s and became a roller coaster attraction at Hunderfossen in Gudbrandsdalen, near Lillehammer, from around 2010 to 2015.

But let's cut to the chase, IL Tempo Gigante hit global TV with Usain Bolt at Bislett Stadium some years back, and foreigners have been eyein' it for inspiration, including Christian Von Koenigsegg, the brain behind Koenigsegg supercars, that kinda surprise egg of a car.

You might spot IL Tempo Gigante, the real Rosa Exit or socialite car, with Dolce&Gabbana ads or styled like a James Bond 007 whip. But which ride's the coolest? Well, the OG, of course.

So, go ahead, take IL Tempo Gigante for a spin, even if it's just in your dreams since it's strictly Caprino's property. You'll be the king of the street scenes for sure.

P.S. IL Tempo Gigante scored the cool license plate "BL 50000" back in the '70s when it was fresh off the line. And if you check the link, you'll find out it's actually a '66 Cadillac.
