Ford Mondeo and Ford Sierra!

Ford Sierra mk2, those are some cool cars that rolled out in the late '80s. They got a bit more modern design compared to the later versions of the Volvo 240, which shared the same platform as the first model of the Ford Sierra and were built around the same time. Here's a little snapshot of a Ford Sierra in an old orienteering map from the late '80s, back when orienteering had as much advertising and supporters as the ski association has had in the last 10-15 years.

This was also the era when Norway had the most orienteers, around 40,000 in 1987, making up about 1% of the population. You can really spice up a Ford Sierra mk2 or turn it into a Cosworth beast.

The Ford Mondeo has been around since 1992. My cousin had the very first version of it for a short while with her ex-husband back in the mid-90s. My mom and dad's friends who worked at the state mapping office drove a Ford Mondeo from the 2000 model year, the first edition of the mk3 Mondeo. Ford Sierras are awesome cars and have been popular among young folks since the '90s, often as an older model of the mk1 Cosworth version with even more spoiler action in the back.

Ford Sierra Minker sounds like a special edition of the Ford Sierra mk2. Speaking of "minker," the number of Ford Sierras is starting to decrease quite significantly both in Norway and worldwide. It's a real shame because they're some darn cool cars. It's like they're becoming a rare breed on the roads. Do you have any favorite memories or experiences with Ford Sierras?
